Whilst in Kuala Lumpur, you can exit the airport and take a train to the city centre. Australians can enter Malaysia without a visa, you only need to clear immigration and customs.

The train from the airport to the city centre is called KLIA Ekspres and takes 30 minutes. You can then transfer to the RapidKL Monorail and find good restaurants, bubble tea and ice cream.

Be sure to allow enough time to make the return journey to the airport and board your onward flight.
